Resetting My System: A New Mini-Series on CBD, Cannabinoids & Whether I Can Feel Edibles Again

For the last few years, edibles just… stopped working for me. Not just “I need a higher dose” — I mean nothing. And that’s the part that always bothered me, because edibles used to work extremely well for me. I’m talking couch-locked, can’t-get-up, full-body effects. My body is capable of responding to them, but somewhere along the way, that changed.

Step one: unopened box, before I start this whole “reset my system” experiment.

When I think back, the timing lines up with when I transitioned away from dry-herb vaping and started primarily dabbing. My tolerance changed. My patterns changed. And honestly, I drifted away from CBD and CBG — the foundational cannabinoids I used to rely on.

A Quick Note About the Science — and Why My Case Is Different

While I know there’s a percentage of people whose bodies just don’t convert THC into 11-hydroxy-THC efficiently — usually because of low activity in liver enzymes like CYP2C9 — that explanation doesn’t fit me. For those people, edibles often never work, no matter the dose, because their body simply doesn’t transform the THC into the form that produces strong effects.

But edibles used to work for me.
Really well.
Which means my metabolism can make that conversion.

So whatever is happening now isn’t the “born without the right enzyme” issue. It’s more likely something that developed later — tolerance buildup, receptor downregulation, changes in how my liver prioritizes cannabinoids, or even how my endocannabinoid system adapted after years of dabbing and high-THC use.

That’s exactly why I’m doing this reset: to figure out what changed, and whether rebuilding my foundation with CBD and minor cannabinoids can help restore some of that responsiveness.

So this winter, I decided I’m going back to the basics.

Why I’m Starting This Mini-Series (“Reset My System”)

This is something I’ve talked about doing for a long time — returning to cannabinoid therapy, rebuilding balance, and seeing if I can reset my endocannabinoid system enough to feel edibles again. I miss infused dinners. I miss trying new edibles and actually experiencing them — even though my tolerance has always been high. I miss the wellness part too — the calm, the inflammation support, the sleep.

And with the hemp ban looming, misinformation spreading, and people claiming these products are “unsafe” or “untested,” I felt a responsibility to show the other side — the real side. The compliant, Farm-Bill-legal, lab-tested, responsible side. Supporting the hemp market matters to me. These are people’s businesses!. These are people I care about.

This series is both personal and educational. I’m doing this for my own health — and so Missouri consumers can see what real, reputable products and processes look like.

Why I Chose These Brands

Let me be very clear: Kevin Lacey of Pinnacle Hemp has no idea I’m writing any of this. I bought my order outright; the only discount I received was the public Black Friday sale.

Pinnacle Hemp (CBD Tincture + THCP Meteorbites)

Kevin has been around this industry a long time, and he’s been consistently supportive of the Missouri hemp space. He helped out with the Missouri Hemp Trade Association, he’s been in the educational side of hemp long before it was popular, and back in 2020 he even let businesses I worked for at the time host patient drives inside his shop. He’s always been someone who stands on compliance, testing, and transparency. That matters to me — especially right now.

If you’re curious about Pinnacle Hemp in general, you can check out their site here. All of their products are derived from industrial hemp and formulated to stay within the 2018 Farm Bill limits.

Stoner Gump (Solar Chews + Lunar Chews)

I’ve never met Daniel Gossard (Stoner Gump)— but hope to one day. My non-cannabis husband even likes watching his videos. His personality, humor, and honest takes are why so many people follow him. What I appreciate most is that he blends comedy with education in a way people can actually understand. He just genuinely loves the plant and the culture around it. He seems very down to earth so he is relatable. I have many friends that have had the opportunity to meet him and I hope our paths cross one day.

Ordering was easy, products went into my cart right away, and yes… this is the order I stayed up until midnight waiting for when the sale went live because I didn’t want to risk a sell-out. Then the sale items were not all showing sales prices at 12 am, so I fell asleep, but they were all correct when I woke up in the morning so I  finally ordered Thanksgiving morning.

I live in Joplin and his warehouse is in Joplin though the store is in Carthage for locals check out Pinnacle Vapor And despite his warehouse being 1.3 miles from my mailbox, USPS shipped them to Kansas City first (because of course they did). The joys of Missouri mail.

The Products I Chose for This Reset

Pinnacle Hemp – 1800mg Full-Spectrum CBD Tincture

This tincture is the foundation of my reset. It’s a full-spectrum, hemp-derived CBD tincture with 1800mg in the bottle — strong enough to matter, gentle enough to use daily. I have relied on CBD and other minor cannabinoids to keep my endocannabinoid system supported as I started out using CBD as an adult not cannabis at first. Somewhere along the way, I stopped. This is me going back to that foundation.

I chose this tincture because it’s from a brand I trust that focuses on compliance, testing, and transparency. I’m starting with consistent, scheduled doses instead of “when I remember” dosing, and I’ll be tracking:

  • Baseline pain and inflammation
  • Stress and mood regulation
  • Sleep quality and restfulness
  • Whether steady CBD support changes how I respond to edibles again

Stoner Gump Solar Chews (Daytime)

The Solar Chews are designed as an uplifting daytime formula that combines Delta-9 THC with minor cannabinoids like THCV, CBC, and CBG. On paper, it’s a blend that should support focus, mood, and daytime functionality — not just “knock you out and glue you to the couch.”

Because my tolerance is high, I’m not expecting miracles from a single gummy. What I’m really curious about is how these feel after I’ve been back on a solid CBD regimen for a bit. With the Solar Chews, I’ll be paying attention to:

  • Whether I feel any noticeable uplift or clarity
  • How my body responds compared to traditional dispensary edibles
  • If there’s any jitteriness versus calm, functional energy

Stoner Gump Lunar Chews (Nighttime)

The Lunar Chews are the nighttime counterpart — a blend focused on Delta-9 THC with supportive cannabinoids like CBD and CBN. They’re designed more for rest, relaxation, and sleep support than daytime productivity.

For someone like me, who historically needed higher doses and still didn’t feel much, these will be a good test of whether my system is actually resetting or still ignoring edibles altogether. With the Lunar Chews, I’ll be tracking:

  • How long it takes to feel anything (if I feel anything at all)
  • Whether they help me fall asleep and stay asleep
  • Next-morning “hangover” or grogginess versus feeling rested

Planet P / Pinnacle Hemp THCP Meteorbites

The THCP Meteorbites are the heavy-hitter of this experiment — a hemp-derived edible that combines THCP with Delta-9 THC in a way that a lot of people describe as “stronger than normal.” I specifically saved these for last in the series because they are the most intense of the three product types I’ll be trying.

My plan is to only try the Meteorbites after I’ve spent time rebuilding my foundation with CBD and testing the Solar and Lunar Chews. When I finally do get to them, I’ll be watching closely for:

  • Whether I feel any effect at all compared to standard edibles
  • How long they take to onset and how long they last
  • Whether the experience feels functional, too intense, or somewhere in between

Again, this series is not sponsored. No one asked me. No one paid me. This is just me doing what I’ve always done: educating, supporting hemp, and sharing what’s real.

This is a community-focused project. I want people to learn, explore safely, understand cannabinoids better, and — if it works for them — maybe experience wellness benefits they didn’t know were possible.

And if I try all of this and edibles still don’t work? That’s okay too. You can’t “fail” at learning your own body.
